Interventional Procedures

What are Interventional Procedures?

Interventional procedures are invasive procedures performed using imaging machines for guidance. Upon referral from your doctor, our specialist radiologist may be asked to use CT or ultrasound scanning to guide a needle into your body for the purposes of taking a tissue biopsy or injecting anaesthetic/anti-inflammatory drugs. The most common of these procedures are injections into tendons and joints, such as the shoulder, hip, knee or spine, to reduce pain.
